WACO, Texas (KWTX) - On November 26, 2000, George W. Bush was certified by the state of Florida as the winner of the presidential election.

The race between Bush and Al Gore was close, and Florida’s electoral votes were crucial to determining the winner.

Gore requested manual recounts, but Bush appealed to the Supreme Court.

The court ruled a constitutional recount would not be completed by the federal deadline, effectively ending the recount process.

Gore conceded to Bush on December 13.

During Bush’s time in office as the 43rd President of the United States, he would spend considerable time at his ranch in Crawford, Texas.
