Good Samaritans foil attempted kidnapping of girl at Central Texas park; restrain suspect while deputies arrive
GEORGETOWN, Texas (KWTX) - A group of Good Samaritans foiled the attempted kidnapping of a girl and restrained the suspected kidnapper while sheriff’s deputies arrived.
The incident happened Dec. 27 at about 1:30 p.m. at Berry Springs Park, located just outside the Georgetown city limits.
Christopher Garza, 28, was arrested and charged with attempted kidnapping and failure to identify. He was jailed on bonds totaling $103,000.

Deputies arrived at the park soon after receiving a 911 call about the attempted kidnapping.
Once at the scene, they noticed a group of people restraining Garza. Witnesses at the told the deputies Garza was confronted as he attempted to kidnap a girl.
“I would like to commend and thank the citizens who intervened and acted swiftly to protect a child from harm,” said Williamson County Sheriff Matt Lindemann.
“While incidents like this are rare in Williamson County, it is truly a blessing that the citizens in the park responded quickly and decisively to ensure a child’s safety.”
