Body found in field confirmed to be missing Texas teenager Camila Mendoza Olmos: sheriff
SAN ANTONIO, Texas (KWTX) - Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar on Dec. 31 confirmed the body found in a field on Dec. 30 was, indeed, that of missing 19-year-old Camila Mendoza Olmos.
Salazar revealed the cause of death was suicide by gunshot wound, per KENS. During the search earlier in the week, authorities had said Olmos was dealing with mental health issues and was believed to be in “imminent danger.”
The sheriff’s office on Tuesday announced a body had been found amid the search for Olmos. KENS reported the discovery was made just before 5 p.m. on private property owned by a landscaping company off FM 1560, close to the area where Olmos was last seen.
Salazar said the field “very close to Camila’s home” and the clothing on the body matched the description of Olmos’ clothing provided by her family.
The woman’s family said Olmos was last seen next to her car outside her home in the 11000 block of Caspian Spring at about 7 a.m. on Christmas Eve.
This is a developing story. No further information is available.
