‘Realistic instead of perfect’: Waco trainer Meredith Hutson offers fitness guidance for the New Year
WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A Central Texas woman who lost 120 pounds naturally and is now one of the top women’s transformation coaches in the country says real change is possible in the New Year.
Meredith Hutson, 30, of Waco, says she knows the feeling of failing year-after-year when it comes to New Year’s goals to get healthy.
“I’ve struggled with my weight from a very young age and every single New Year that this would finally be the year that I would do it,” Meredith said. “I would start off really motivated, do something crazy extreme and within weeks I would burn out and feel like I failed all over again.”
One day, something changed for the 2013 Hubbard graduate who before then, worried her problem was a lack of self-discipline.
“The truth is I was just never taught how to create real sustainable change,” Meredith said. " Everything shifted when I stopped chasing fast weight loss, and I started focusing on how I actually lived my life. I built a routine that was realistic instead of perfect. I learned how to eat in a way that felt nourishing and enjoyable and not actually like a diet, and I finally addressed the root of my struggles mentally, hormonally, physically."
Meredith lost more than 120 pounds by hitting the gym and making better food choices but the real secret, she believes, was a shift in her mindset.
Meredith’s life has changed in more ways than she ever dreamed. “I have PCOS. I was insulin resistant had hypothyroidism and was on the verge of becoming pre diabetic when I started my journey,” Meredith said.
Meredith is now as fit and healthy as she’s ever been and she’s using what she’s learned in her journey to help thousands of women around the world.
Meredith’s popular online coaching program called “Get Fit with Mer” has helped over 4,000 women in the last four years.
One thing she teaches her clients is to never obsess over the number on the scale.
“I didn’t obsess with the scale, and I didn’t even make weight loss the main priority,” Meredith said. “I focused on daily habits that supported my health.”
Meredith is doing a free master class on January 4 for anyone interested in making changes in the near year.
