HOUSTON, Texas (KWTX) - On November 30, 2018, former President George H.W. Bush passed away at the age of 94.

A decorated Navy pilot in World War II, he flew 58 combat missions and was even shot down.

He served as a two-term Congressman from Texas, Ambassador to the United Nations, Director of the CIA, and two terms as Vice President under Ronald Reagan.

As the 41st President, Bush is widely credited with skillfully managing the end of the Cold War, signing crucial treaties to reduce nuclear threats, and overseeing the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany.

A major test of his leadership came with Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait, leading to the decisive Operation Desert Storm.

President Bush is laid to rest in his family plot, located behind the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum at Texas A&M University, alongside his wife Barbara and daughter Robin.
