WACO, Texas (KWTX) - On December 5, 2011, former Copperas Cove High School standout and Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III was named a Heisman Trophy finalist.

Griffin shattered 51 Baylor records and was one of the nation’s most efficient passers.

Griffin also led Baylor to their first bowl game win since 1992 and its first 10-win season since 1980.

RG3 eventually became Baylor’s first and only Heisman trophy winner after beating out Stanford’s Andrew Luck and Alabama’s Trent Richardson.
