La Vega Pirates Clinch First State Football Championship

BELLMEAD, Texas (KWTX) - On December 18, 2015, the La Vega Pirates brought home the school’s first state title in football.
La Vega beat Argyle 33-31 in a dramatic finish.
After Jamal Williams put the Pirates on top with a rushing touchdown with less than a minute left, La Vega was able to hold off one last Hail Mary attempt from Argyle to clinch the championship and put a cap on an undefeated season.
The Pirates added more hardware to their trophy case with their second state championship win in 2018.
In total, La Vega has played in the state title game 6 times, with additional appearances in 1951, 2008, 2019, and 2024
