La Vega Pirates Capture 4A State Title with Second-Half Surge

BELLMEAD, Texas (KWTX) - On December 21, 2018, the La Vega Pirates became 4A state champions for the second time in four years.
The team beat Liberty Hill 35-21 in Arlington.
A Liberty Hill touchdown tied the game at 7 before the half, but the Pirates came out fast in the second half.
Donta Stuart returned the opening kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown.
John Richards put the game away with a fourth-quarter touchdown run.
The 35-21 victory was Don Hyde’s first title as La Vega’s head coach.
