LOTT, Texas - Our next Be Remarkable takes us to Lott where we had the wonderful opportunity to meet Shirley Melton.

Shirley, who is 91 years old, does everything for the community-one of which is the organizer for the town’s food distribution.

“Fortunately, I don’t require much sleep. I always worked all day, went in early and came home late and played a lot of the time, " Melton said.

Her constant dedication, drive, and care for the community is the reason Ruthann Springfield nominated Ms. Shirley to receive a 500 dollar check on behalf of Be Remarkable.

“She not only gives her time, she gives her strength. She works right beside us. I mean, she just doesn’t just stand there. she does everything,” Springfield said.

The impact Ms. Shirley has on her community was evident by the close to 30 people that showed up for her honor, but at 91 years old she is as humble as they come.

“I love people, but I want to pick the people that I love. Everybody here is easy to love. And we stay out of trouble and try to help those who need it, " Melton said.

We heard multiple testimonials of Ms. Shirley going above and beyond when helping with the food distribution or just helping a neighbor in need. She is truly remarkable.
