Local realtor hosts blanket drive for senior citizens
WOODWAY, Texas (KWTX) — A local realtor is once again hosting a blanket and sock drive to make sure senior citizens stay warm and loved this holiday season.
Camille Johnson, owner of Camille Johnson, Realtors, is hosting the Share the Warmth Blanket Drive Wednesday at her office in Woodway.
The blankets and socks will then be delivered to two nursing homes in Waco.
Johnson said the drive is a way to make sure senior citizens are remembered this Christmas.
“During the holidays, so much attention is naturally focused on children and that is important,” Johnson said. “But we also want to make sure our seniors are not forgotten. Many of them face the winter months alone, and a warm blanket or a new pair of socks is a simple way to remind them that their community still cares.”
The socks and blankets are delivered to Woodland Springs Nursing Center and Ridgecrest Retirement and Healthcare Community in Waco.
The realtor said the residents are so appreciative of the gifts.
“Last year was a blessing to us. They were so thankful, so warm and so welcoming,” Johnson said. “They appreciated it so much.”
Cash donations will also be accepted so that Johnson and her team can purchase what’s still needed, which is often men’s socks.
The realtors are partnering this year with The Snider Team to make a bigger impact.
The drive will be held Wednesday at Camille Johnson, Realtors at 104 Midway Center in Woodway from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Guests who stop by between 9 a.m. and noon can enjoy free coffee and a sweet treat with their donation.
This is the ninth year in a row for the drive.
