Copperas Cove volunteer and historian leads effort to keep town history alive
Copperas Cove, Texas (KWTX)- Our next Be Remarkable takes us to Copperas Cove where we had the pleasure of meeting Joan Kelly.
Joan is a big part of the community as she works for the local drug store, owns a new business, and is also involved in community events as she helped organize the Ogletree Gap festival and was instrumental with the Copperas Cove historical society.
“I think it’s important that everybody knows the history and to continue it, as long as they can. We don’t want something like that dying now and being forgotten,” Kelly said.
It is values like this that make Joan a big part of the community and is what aligns her with Daniel Stark Injury Lawyer’s mission of being remarkable.
She was awarded a $500 check for being remarkable on behalf of Daniel Stark.
Joan was nominated by former council member, current school board member, and member of the historical society John Gallen who was impressed by Joan’s dedication to the community.
“She did a fantastic job of pulling us all together as a group, and getting that festival off the ground. She really was the driving force behind it here, this is the way we’re going to do things, and we had an extremely successful festival,” Gallen said.
If you know someone like Joan doing awesome things in their community nominate them at kwtx.com/beremarkable.
