(KWTX) - Celiac Disease is an autoimmune disorder where gluten triggers painful symptoms in the gut. The occurrence of Celiac has doubled in the last 25 years, but currently there are no drugs to treat it.

This week we are talking with Dr. Elena Verdu from McMaster university, who was part of a research team that has worked for the last 6 years to answer a key question when it comes to Celiac Disease, “Where does the gluten reaction begin?”. This groundbreaking research could potentially bring scientists closer to developing a treatment or cure for Celiac.
