(KWTX) -This week we are talking with Marine Biologist Dr. Mary Hagedorn who is leading the Reef Recovery Initiative, which focuses on cryopreservation of coral reefs. Warming ocean temperatures and habitat changes are threatening many of the 1,000 different species of coral on the planet. The Reef Recovery Initiative is working on building a worldwide network of biorepositories to store frozen, but alive in liquid nitrogen, samples of coral species.
