Local woman helps others recover from mental and substance use disorders
WACO, Texas - Our next Be Remarkable takes us to Waco and the McLennan County courthouse where we had the pleasure to meet Jamie Schmitt.
Jamie spends a lot of time in the courthouse where she works in the recovery field and has a passion for offering recovery for those with substance abuse and mental health disorders.
“Everybody deserves a second chance. Y’all going to make me cry! My passion is letting individuals live the way they want to live,” Jamie Schmitt, Be Remarkable Winner.
Jamie serves on the council for advising and planning for the prevention and treatment of mental and substance use disorders and is on several other boards and chapters providing an essential service while working at Christian Farms Treehouse Treatment Facility keeping very busy around the clock.
“The passion is constantly lit because of the fact there are so many people who need help and need recovery,” Schmitt said.
Her daughter, Tori Lentz, was there to support her as she received a $500 check on behalf of Daniel Stark Injury Lawyers and Be Remarkable.
“I’ve literally seen her change people’s life, multiple people. People come up, 15 years ago, going ‘Oh my gosh, I remember you, thank you so much for helping me,’ while we are at dinner. It’s amazing, people I’ve never seen. She has changed their life just as much as she changed mine,” Tori Lentz, Nominator.
