KWTX kicks off football season with Xtra Point High School Football Show

WACO, Texas (KWTX) - High school football kicks off across Central Texas this week and KWTX has you covered starting with a high school preview show that airs Wednesday evening.

The KWTX High School Preview Show will air Wednesday following the 6pm newscast from 6:30 to 7 p.m.

KWTX will cover more than 70 local high school teams throughout the season.

“We’ll get you ready for the high school football season breaking down all your favorite teams,” said KWTX Sports Director Darby Brown. “We’ll detail all the teams in the area either team by team or district by district.”

Brown will be joined by sports reporter and anchor Chad Vautherine.

The preview show will include a look into University and Waco High school getting back into the same district.

It will also explore the new district 12-4A which includes Lorena, La Vega, China Spring, Connally, Gatesville and Robinson.

Some teams will kick off Thursday evening, while the majority will play their first match-up Friday.

KWTX will have an on-air sports show every Friday night of the season starting at 10:15 p.m. and it won’t end there.

“Then we have an overtime show at 11 p.m. that’s online or Facebook,” Brown said.

The KWTX sports team is also keeping up with the Baylor Bears. KWTX will air a Baylor Gameday Live show at 9 a.m. On Saturday mornings.

“We’ll get you ready for college football Saturday with a preview of Baylor playing Tarleton state on Saturday night,” Brown said. “There’s lots of good football content coming at you, so it’s going to be a great week and a great season.”
