KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) - The owner of a Killeen home is facing quite the clean up and a 20-year-old just caught a DWI charge after driving into that home on New Year’s night.

The driver managed to skate up the incline in the front yard, flipping into the house and then flipping again into the fence, sending stones and glass flying around and through the house.

“A family lives there, and they have two kids,” says Phil Romero, who owns the home.

Romero currently lives in New Mexico and is renting his home out to a family who just moved here from up north.

He’s in disbelief as he tries to figure out who’s responsible for paying for and cleaning up a mess he didn’t make.

“Right now, it’s the waiting game. But in the meantime, I am responsible for covering those holes up,” he explains.

Inside the home, you can see exterior stones piercing through the sheetrock. The damage may cause the family to have to move again.

“The holes are letting all the heat out and it’s getting cold,” Romero says.

The driver is Amaiyah Dawson, 20, and she was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Her bond was set at $3,000 and she has since bonded out.

Romero is hoping he can get some help from the city to slow people down at this intersection of Rosewood and Bronze, whether that’s speed bumps or guardrails on the sidewalk, as he says this is the second time a car has ended up in his yard.

“People speed up and down this road, doing donuts in the middle of the street. In May we had a truck end up in our yard,” he says.

In the meantime, he is doing what he can to clean up the mess and hopes that someone’s irresponsible and wild night doesn’t impact his income for the foreseeable future.
