Groesbeck boy with rare condition inspires community support through t-shirts
Ryder Chambers of Groesbeck lives with Arthrogryposis or AMC, which limits his movement from his neck to his toes
GROESBECK, Texas (KWTX) - Ryder Chambers, 6, has been living with Arthrogryposis, or AMC, a condition that affects one in 3,000 live births.
Ryder’s mother Kyla Chambers found out about his condition before he was born.
“I’ve never heard of it before, I’d have to do a lot of research and just go into heavy details like groups on Facebook and a lot of Google,” Chambers said. “We didn’t know the extent of his arthrogryposis until he was born because it can be a very mild case or severe case.”

Ryder’s condition limits his movement from his neck to his toes, requiring him to adjust how he does everyday activities.
“He can’t walk he can’t crawl he can’t kick his legs he can’t move his arms he can’t write he can’t feed himself,” Chambers said.
Despite the challenges and nonstop doctor’s appointments, Ryder makes the most of everyday. He goes to school and loves making people laugh.
“He is a very funny kid he has the biggest personality probably that I’ve ever seen in a 6 year old given his disability, he can talk your ear off he is so smart he has blown my mind and I’m his mom,” Kyla said.
Ryder has multiple doctors at McLane Children’s in Temple, who have been able to help him improve his quality of life.
He is set to get another surgery to help his back at Scottish Rite in Dallas.
“Those doctors more so focus on his limbs and his joints and how to progress those to get him where he needs to be with mobility,” Chambers said.
Supporters of Ryder have made T-shirts to raise money for Ryder’s upcoming hospital stay which will take three weeks.

Chambers said the support from the community helps their spirit during hard times, all while raising awareness about his condition that he will live with for the rest of his life.
“It is a condition it is not a disease, I don’t like to call it a disability because this kid is not limited to anything he has proven everybody wrong including myself with things that he can do,” Chambers said.
