Waco teen’s girlfriend critically injured when he wrecked stolen car during police chase: affidavit
Kareem Jackson, 17, is facing a slew of charges, including a first-degree felony count of aggravated assault-family violence resulting in serious bodily injury.
WACO, Texas (KWTX) - The girlfriend of a Waco teenager suffered critical injuries when the teen wrecked a stolen vehicle during a failed attempt to elude police officers, an arrest warrant states.
Kareem Jackson, 17, is facing a slew of charges, including evading arrest in a motor vehicle, unauthorized use of a vehicle, theft of property, aggravated assault-family violence resulting in serious bodily injury, failure to identify as a fugitive, evading arrest and criminal trespass.

Jackson was arrested on Dec. 9 and booked into the McLennan County Jail. His bond amounts total more than $1.5 million, according to online records.
A Beverly Hills police officer spotted Jackson driving a car with extensive body damage and no license plates in the 3400 block of Memorial Drive on Dec. 9.
The officer initiated a traffic stop but Jackson refused to pull over and led authorities on a 40 minute chase over 49 miles, according to an arrest warrant.
During the chase, Jackson was driving up to 112 miles per hour, police alleged in the warrant.
The pursuit ended when Jackson crashed his vehicle into the concrete base of a light pole, critically injuring his girlfriend who was riding in the passenger side seat, police said.
The girl was entrapped in the mangled vehicle, required air transport to a local hospital and was placed in the intensive care unit. Police said her femur and pelvis were shattered in the wreck.
Her mother identified her as La’Miyah Aniquee in a social media post and told KWTX her daughter also suffered a punctured lung and kidney.
“Her surgeon said surgery went PERFECT. Her femur, hips and pelvis have been put back together. Her vitals are GREAT. The bleeding internally has slowed down. Overall, she’s made so much progress and I can’t thank God ENOUGH!” the mother wrote in the social media post.

Jackson, who was also hospitalized, was overheard telling doctors and nurses he had been drinking, police said. Once he was cleared to be jailed, Jackson lied to police about his name and age, according to the affidavit.
Police later learned Jackson had an active warrant for his arrest on a charge of felony theft of a vehicle.
Furthermore, an investigation revealed the car Jackson wrecked during the police chase was stolen at a local gas station on Dec. 6.
“Jackson admitted that he did not stop because he knew he had a warrant out for his arrest,” police wrote in the warrant, “Once in custody, he provided a false date of birth in hopes of being charged as a juvenile.”
