Temple High School student seen in video fighting teacher suspended, district says
TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) - A Temple High School student reportedly seen fighting a teacher in a video circulating online has been “removed from campus,” the school district confirmed to KWTX.
The incident reportedly happened Monday afternoon at the school located at 415 N 31st Street in Temple.
“The student has been suspended and will not return to campus pending a disciplinary hearing,” the school district said.
The staff member is reportedly doing okay. The name of the student will not be released because he is a minor.
KWTX reached out to the Temple Police Department and a spokesperson confirmed a report was taken.
The department did not provide information and emailed KWTX the following statement:
“Under Texas Statutes, juveniles are given special protections regarding release of identifying information in relation to investigations.
“Under these special protections we cannot confirm identifying information of any juveniles we were in contact with during our investigation of this incident, whether the juvenile was a witness or a suspect of criminal activity.
“Therefore, we are not able to comment at this time on the status of individuals in videos and pictures that were captured by others, regardless of whether they were witnesses, suspects, or uninvolved bystanders.”
