Killeen man with drugs, guns crashes after high-speed chase
BELL COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) — A Killeen man was arrested Monday after leading a Texas state trooper on a chase that ended in a crash and foot pursuit, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The incident began around 12:32 p.m. when a DPS trooper on routine patrol tried to pull over a 2010 Chevrolet for a traffic violation on Jasper Road.
DPS confirmed the driver refused to stop and sped away westbound on Jasper Road, driving recklessly.
The chase ended when the suspect’s vehicle crashed into another car at the intersection of State Highway 195 and Jasper Road.
The driver, identified as 35-year-old Eurin Eaddy Harris Jr. of Killeen, got out of his vehicle and ran from the scene, DPS reported.
The trooper caught Harris a short distance away after using a Taser to subdue him.
Troopers found drugs and a gun in Harris’s vehicle, according to DPS. Harris was taken to the Bell County Jail.
No information was immediately available about injuries to occupants of the other vehicle involved in the crash.
