New laws in Texas will impact students as new school year begins
A newly passed technology ban will restrict phones in classrooms.
Central Texas (KWTX) - It’s almost time to dust off those backpacks and books as students return to the classroom.
China Spring will head back to campus on August 4th, with districts like Waco on the 11th, Killeen on the 13th, and Temple on the 19th.
Class will look different for students starting this year with two new laws put in place by Governor Greg Abbott.
School districts must either ban personal devices from campus entirely or mandate students lock them away during school hours; using methods such as a Yondr Pouch.
Another law brings the 10 Commandments and prayer periods to classrooms across the Lone Star State. A poster or framed copy of the 10 Commandments must be displayed in classrooms and measure at least 16 inches wide and 20 inches tall.
These laws take effect September 1st.
