KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) - School can come with its own hurdles and anxieties. Central Texas College has implemented two programs on campus to help ease the burden as much as possible.

Students have access to a food pantry known as the Eagles Nest and a clothing closet providing business clothes for students as they begin their career path.

As for how these programs work, at the Eagles Nest students schedule an appointment and are then walked through the shopping with staff.

Net Impact got involved with the program last year -- adding a new inventory system to keep track of food and partnered with the Killeen Food Care Center to make sure the shelves remain stocked.

“It’s a lot of college students that are in need. A lot of people are very insecure of their food needs and in our food pantry we make in comfortable for them to come in and collect food without them getting embarrassed by their peers,” Cody Chambers, Eagles Nest, Net Impact President said.

As for the clothing closet, students can check out the clothing and keep an outfit per semester. The program has had success, we’re told one student utilized the closet prior to an interview on campus and then got the job!

The school hopes more students will take advantage of these programs.
