Another school year is underway for Copperas Cove ISD students
COPPERAS COVE, Texas (KWTX) - With their smiles and backpacks on Copperas Cove students made their return to campus for the first day of school.
Another year is underway for the Bulldogs at Hettie Halstead Elementary School!
Dr. Tonya Sweeney is now in her third year serving as principal of the school. She says this school year is geared towards enhancing the culture for students and staff.
“We incorporated top dog which is the top dog in each grade level, we have bulldog of the month, we have started school wide assemblies and then also incorporating a lot of consistent language among the staff and the students and i really think that’s made a great impact,” Sweeney said.
The district is expecting to grow this year!
“We’re projected to be at 436 this year. last check, we are just about 400 but they’re coming in we had some coming in this morning so the doors are open and we’re ready for them all.”
With cell phones put away for students, all campuses now have Facebook pages to keep parents more informed.
