Local political action group donates 10 Commandments to Robinson ISD
Districts must display the 10 Commandments in each classroom starting September 1st
ROBINSON, Texas (KWTX) - Local school districts are trying to figure out how they’ll get 10 Commandments posters for their classrooms up to comply with a new law that goes into effect September 1st.
Districts must display the 10 Commandments in each classroom at public elementary or secondary schools.
The legislation reads “A poster or framed copy of the commandments must be a size that can be read by someone with average vision--- and measure at least 16 inches wide and 20 inches tall.” Robinson ISD says the Heart of Texas Conservatives are donating the posters for the classrooms, and once those are received, they will put them up in classrooms.
According to the donor’s website, the political action committee stands for faith, family, freedom, and the constitution. Temple ISD says it was in touch with a group that agreed to a wholesale donation to post them in all 670 classrooms.
Meanwhile, McGregor ISD says it has been advised to sit tight and see how the courts decide on the constitutionality of posting the 10 Commandments in public schools.
