Temple ISD is back in the classroom
This school year brings new names to teaching roles
TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) - The Temple High School Wildcats got their day started at 7:30 in the morning on Tuesday when the bell rang.
This school year brings new names to teaching roles.
Superintendent Dr. Bobby Ott says 107 new teachers joined the district this year- a good amount are even alumni!
Old routines are coming into play this year as the district takes on year two of their no cell phone policy. Dr. Ott says the phone locker routine started at the high school last year and throughout the year, and they worked closely with pediatricians to look at what’s needed at the elementary and middle schools.
“Our failure rate in classes decreased exponentially, our attendance rate went up, our discipline infractions went way down. We had all those numbers sent out to the media some time ago last year, it was truly incredible,” Dr. Ott said.
We’re told the growth seen and anticipated within the district already has talks for a future bond underway; approximately 30 plus classrooms would be needed.
