Temple ISD alumni come back to the district to teach
107 new teachers joined the district this year- a good amount of them are alumni
TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) - Temple students and staff are now in their second week back to school.
Before the school year started, Superintendent Dr. Bobby Ott told us 107 new teachers joined the district this year- a good amount of them are alumni!
We caught up with two alumni teachers at Raye-Allen Elementary School. Alex Curtis teaches 5th grade English and is in her first year teaching. Pam Bulls teaches 3rd grade math and science and has spent more than 35 years educating.
Both teachers share fond memories during their time as students and now they hope their students take away the same experiences and love for the district.
“It’s more exciting to see teachers now that I taught in my classrooms years ago and see them as teachers that they grew up and wanted to be teachers and that makes it all worth it,” Bulls said.
“I have a few teachers that saw that I was coming back to the district as a first-year teacher. My kindergarten teacher, Miss Harper from Jefferson, she reached out to me. She was a big influence on my life so getting to see how proud of me she was and knowing I’m going to do great with the kids of the future was really important,” Curtis said.
Alex Curtis told us her husband, who she met in high school, is also teaching within the district.
