TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) - The City of Temple is reminding residents that selling, possessing and setting off fireworks is illegal within city limits as New Year’s Eve approaches.

City officials said fireworks can negatively impact individuals with PTSD, cause injury to people of all ages and damage property. Fireworks can also scare animals, causing an increase in lost pet reports.

Residents may pick up yard signs to help spread awareness that fireworks are illegal within city limits at two locations: City Hall at 2 N Main St and the Temple Utility Billing Office at 401 N 3rd St.

To report the use of fireworks in Temple, residents can call the Temple Police Department’s non-emergency line at 254.298.5500. Officials ask residents to reserve dialing 911 for life-threatening emergencies.
