Fire ravages home in Temple, Texas, on New Year’s Eve

TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) - Firefighters on Dec. 31 extinguished a fire at a home located at 601 N 6th Street in Temple, Texas.
The call was dispatched at 1:03 p.m., and the first Temple Fire & Rescue unit arrived at 1:06 p.m.
When they arrived, they encountered heavy fire and smoke coming from the rear of the home.

Firefighters quickly verified no one was inside and then immediately began working to extinguish the blaze and protect neighboring homes.
A resident who suffered an injury was transported to the hospital. The other residents in the home were able to exit without injury with the assistance of their neighbors.
There were no injuries reported to firefighters.
Temple Fire and Rescue responded with 12 units and 25 personnel.
The fire was declared under control at 1:30 p.m., and declared out at 1:37 p.m.
