Waco collectibles shop giving store credit to kids who get an A in school
WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A new collectibles shop in downtown Waco is rewarding kids with good grades.
Collect ‘Em Again has started “Collect A’s...Get Paid.”
The program works by allowing kids to bring in their report cards and get one dollar in store credit per A to spend that day.
Kevin Ferguson and longtime collector Benjamin Woody are the owners and say they wanted to come up with a fun way to encourage young collectors to succeed in the classroom.
“Here at Collect ‘Em we understand how important education is so with that in mind we have come up with a little program to help incentivize our little dudes and dudettes in school,” Ferguson said.
The first student to cash in was 8-year-old Frank Workman, a 3rd grader at West Elementary.

Frank has been visiting the shop once a week with his dad TC and loves not only collecting cards but getting to know the owners.
Frank took in a straight “A” report card which left him with $6 in store credit.
He chose Pokémon cards as his reward.
“It meant a lot to me,” Frank said.
It’s a feeling echoed by Frank’s dad.
“From the first time we walked in, the folks in the shop meaningfully engaged with Frank and shared his enjoyment for collecting Pokémon, football and baseball cards,” Frank said.
“When he heard about the dollar for grades deal, he couldn’t wait until he got his report card so he could bring it up there.”

You can cash in by taking in a report card of any child kindergarten through 12th grade.
Collect ‘Em Again is located at 930 Austin Avenue.
They’re open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays noon to 5.
