Central Texas Cattle Baron’s Ball raises nearly $500K for cancer research
WACO, Texas (KWTX) - This year’s Central Texas Cattle Baron’s Ball was a huge success, raising nearly $500,000 in the fight against cancer.
The annual ball was attended by around 800 people and held at MCC’s Highlander Ranch Saturday night.
Cattle Baron’s Ball is an annual fundraiser for the American Cancer Society which has mission to end cancer as we know it.
The organization promotes advocacy and supports research and patient support to ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.
Will Cummings co-chaired the event along with Stephanie Maultsby.
“Stephanie and I are so pleased with how this year went,” Cummings said. “Central Texas showed up in a big way to raise funds to end the scourge that is cancer. ”

It was a personal mission for the co-chairs who both lost their mothers to cancer.
“Both of our mothers would be so proud that their memories helped raise nearly $500,000 for cancer research.”
More than $70,000 was raised in the audible auction alone which included jewelry, sports tickets and trips.
The Josh Abbott Band ended the evening performing as guests, mostly dressed in cowboy hats and boots, danced to his Texas country music.
This was the 33rd annual Central Texas Cattle Baron’s Ball.
