Restaurant Report Card for Central Texas: 9.26.24
(KWTX) - Here’s this week’s Restaurant Report Card for Central Texas:
Los Cucos Mexican Café at 2805 West loop 340 in Waco failed a reinspection with an 80. (20 demerits)
According to the food safety worker, several foods were not kept at the right temperature, the carnitas, steak, diced tomatoes, Pico de Gallo, cooked shrimp, and cheddar cheese.
What was supposed to be hot chicken and beef were not.
These were thrown out.
There was raw chicken stored above the raw shrimp, and an employee was handling tortilla chips with their bare hands.
This place needed reinspection.
Taqueria West at 509 West Oak Street in West failed a reinspection with an 83. (17 demerits)
According to the food safety worker, some fried pork skins were thrown out because they weren’t kept at the right temperature.
The report says an employment mentioned, they are kept out all day, then put back in the cooler, and brought out the next day to reheat.
This is a violation.
There was also standing water inside the reach-in cooler.
This place needed reinspection.
Shipley Do-Nuts at 10300 China Spring Road in Waco at first failed a renewal inspection with an 85. (15 demerits)
Then it passed with a 100 the very next day.
Before that, according to the food safety worker, the hot dogs, scrambled eggs, sausage, and American cheese we’re not kept at the right temperature.
They were thrown out.
So were the sausage kolache, ham and cheese kolache, and egg and cheese kolache.
There was no measurable sanitizer at the front-line area.
And the cooler and a hot hold could not maintain an adequate temperature to keep the food safe.
This place needed a reinspection.
And this week’s Clean Plate award goes to Papi Taco at 809 South Main Street in McGregor. This food truck serves breakfast and lunch.
Some popular items included- the pork chop plate, migas, Charo beans, refried beans, grilled peppers, enchiladas, of course the tacos, and for dessert sopapillas.
