Restaurant Report Card for Central Texas: 12.12.24
(KWTX) - Here’s this week’s Restaurant Report Card for Central Texas:
Logan’s Roadhouse #418 at 2806 west loop 340 in Waco failed a renewal inspection with a 76. (24 demerits)
According to the food safety worker, the thousand island and ranch sauces, fat free milk, salad, cheesecake slices, strawberries in sauce, raw buttermilk chicken and chicken tender, tomato slices, Pico de Gallo and sour cream were all thrown out because they weren’t kept at the right temperature.
The mashed potatoes, mac and cheese and cooked rice were not held at the right temperature either.
There was a black mold-like growth on the walls and gaskets inside the reach-in cooler and on the exterior of the ice machine. There was dust on the AC vents and other violations. This place needed a reinspection.
Cold Stone Creamery at 1428 Wooded Acres Drive in Waco failed a renewal inspection with an 81. (19 demerits)
According to the food safety worker, there were multiple packaged cakes and cake tops for self-serve without a permit from the manufacturer, so they must discontinue using them.
The manager did not wash their hands properly before serving a customer.
The employee was unable to provide sanitizer test strips among other violations.
Daylight Donuts at 1100 La Salle Avenue in Waco passed a routine inspection with an 87. (13 demerits)
According to the food safety worker, cooked pork sausage kolaches in the hot hold were not kept at the right temperature. They were thrown out. The hand sink did not have paper towels.
The scoops needed to be thoroughly cleaned.
There were unlabeled containers of jalapenos and powdered sugar.
And a slimy pink and black substance on the floor drain in the kitchen.
And this week’s Clean Plate award goes to Mr. Greek at 2625 West Waco Drive in Waco.
Unfortunately, this place no longer operates its deli. However, you may want to check out its catering menu for that holiday party.
This grocery store specialized in items that are Greek, Arab, Indian and kosher.
