Restaurant Report Card for Central Texas: 12.19.24

(KWTX) - Here’s this week’s Restaurant Report Card for Central Texas:

Eagles Landing Restaurant & Grill at 111 West 3rd Street in Bruceville-Eddy failed a renewal inspection with a 93. (7 demerits)

According to the food safety worker, some food was left inside a cooler for an unknown amount of time.

They were thrown out.

They include mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans, raw chicken, milk, shredded cheese, cheese block, and roast beef.

Honest Juicery at 720 Franklin Avenue in Waco failed a renewal inspection with a 92. (8 demerits)

According to the food safety worker, the sanitizer levels were at 0 quarts.

It needed to be at 400.

There is an employee working without a certified food manager certificate. The hand sink in the prep area did not have paper towels and there were multiple single-use items being stored on the floor.

Vitek’s BarBQ at 1600 Speight Avenue in Waco failed renewal inspection with a 92. (8 demerits)

According to the food safety worker, these foods were not kept at the right temperature for who knows how long.

The items include the ranch dressing, turkey sausage, hot dog, potato salad and the shredded cheese.

They were thrown out.

The sausages in the hot hold were not quite kept at the right temperature.

And the reach-in cooler could not maintain a proper temperature.

All of these places needed reinspection.

And this week’s Clean Plate award goes to Jack N’ Jill Donuts, at 204 North Frontage Road in Lorena.

Obviously, you can get a regular sized pastry.

This business even sells larger-sized donuts like twists, cinnamon rolls, bear claws, apple fritters and long john.

And the kolaches come in two sizes.
