(KWTX) - Here’s this week’s Restaurant Report Card for Central Texas:
Ninfa’s Waco at 202 South 3rd Street in Waco failed a renewal inspection with an 82. (18 demerits)
According to the food safety worker, the refried beans, chicken and steak were not properly cooled.
Some cooked chicken and beef were stored next to some thawing raw chicken and shrimp.
That had to be relocated to prevent cross-contamination.
The can openers had dried-on sticky food debris.
There were other issues.
On The Border Mexican Cafe at 4320 West Waco Drive in Waco failed a routine inspection with an 82. (18 demerits)
According to the food safety worker, the Pico de Gallo was not kept at the right temperature.
There was a gray substance built-up on the soda gun nozzle in the bar area.
The dishwashing machine was not dispensing sanitizer.
There is heavy dust build-up on the air curtain fan at the back door.
Because of the repeat violations, this place had to pay a fee and make corrections by Thursday the 20th to avoid further legal action.
Milano’s Pizza at 316 North Main Street in West failed reinspection with a 76. (24 demerits)
According to the food safety worker, the shredded mozzarella and other shredded cheese were not kept at the right temperature.
They were thrown out.
There were clean pans with excessive flaking buildup and brown-sticky residue on a bulk salt container.
The reach-in cooler could not maintain the proper temperature.
There was a black mold-like substance on the reach-in freezer gaskets-- dust on the ceiling vents—and old food debris and soil on the walls and the floors throughout the facility.
There were other issues.
This place had to pay a fee and make corrections to avoid further legal action.
All of these places needed reinspections.
And this week’s clean plate award goes to Mission Waco’s “World Cup Cafe” at 1321 north 15th street in Waco.
If you are looking for good food and a good cause this could be your spot.
