WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Here’s this week’s Restaurant Report Card for Central Texas:

Farm to Market Coffee Co. at 303 West 3rd Street in Bruceville-Eddy failed a renewal inspection with a 74. (26 demerits)

According to the food safety worker, the French vanilla and coconut creamer, the Italian sweet crème, oat milk, whipping cream, and half-and-half were not kept to the right temperature.

They were thrown out.

An employee was rinsing the blenders in the mop sink.

Some reach-in coolers could not maintain the right temperature, so they were unplugged and emptied.

There was a sticky insect trap above the food prep area.

U-swirl at 100 North New Road in Waco failed a renewal inspection with an 85. (15 demerits)

According to the food safety worker, the mango sorbet mix, sliced mango, strawberries, kiwi and bananas, strawberry, mango, and lemon boba were not kept to the right temperature.

The thermometer in three coolers did not function.

And several employees were wearing wrist jewelry near the food prep area.

Cajun Craft at 601 South 11th Street in Waco failed a routine inspection with an 87. (13 demerits)

According to the food safety worker, the mac and cheese was uncovered in the walking cooler and the mashed potatoes weren’t kept at the right temperature.

There was a sanitizer bucket with no sanitizer.

And the food handlers’ cell phones, beverages and personal items were in the prep area.

All of these places needed a reinspection.

And this week’s Clean Plate award goes to Ernie’s Fried Chicken in Troy at 213 North Central Avenue.

Obviously, you can get some good ole fried chicken, legs, thighs, breast, and tenders. If you don’t want that, this spot also has fried catfish.

Can’t make it for dinner, that’s ok.

You can stop by and grab a “Fat Ernie Burrito” with sausage, bacon, egg, cheese, potato and beans.

The inspector noted, “please keep up the good work! Very clean!”

Report Card” segments are gathered directly from the public records of regular inspections conducted by county health department officials in Central Texas. KWTX does not determine what locations are inspected and does not assign the overall scores which are reflected in percentages. Any questions regarding the status of an inspection, reinspection, or the score reported should be directed to the individual county health departments in which those businesses are located.
