Restaurant Report Card for Central Texas: 6.5.25

(KWTX) - Here’s this week’s Restaurant Report Card for Central Texas:

Tres Hermanos Mexican Restaurant LLC at 10209 Cougar Ridge Parkway in Waco failed a renewal inspection with a 67 and was penalized. (33 demerits)

According to the food safety worker, by the grill, the eggs, sliced cheese, diced bell peppers, chile rellano mix, corn, ranch dressing and salsa were thrown out because they weren’t kept at the right temperature.

Some chicken was reheated.

There was a black, slimy, mold-like substance on the ice machine and in the mop sink area.

And the backflow prevention device was leaking.

Cathay House at 825 Wooded Acres Drive in Waco failed an inspection prompted by a complaint with a 77. (23 demerits)

According to the food safety worker, there were a lot of violations. The imitation crab meat, some cooked beef, raw chicken, and cooked noodles and broccoli were not stored at the right temperature.

There were several cross-contamination issues with the raw shrimp and chicken thawing together inside a plastic bag.

An employee did not properly wash their hands.

There was water standing at the cook’s line and grease residue on the bottom shelves.

Because of multiple violations, this place had to pay a reinspection fee.

McDonald’s at 4503 North Interstate-35 in Lacy Lakeview failed an inspection with an 89. (11 demerits)

According to the food safety worker, there was an open food product and some preparation going on under a leaking ceiling.

That was an imminent health hazard.

There was also a strong sewage-like odor coming from one of the sinks and the walk-in cooler areas.

The facility closed temporarily.

And this week’s Clean Plate award goes to Yardie Cuisine at 809 North 2nd Street in Killeen.

On its website, it boasts as the premier Jamaican restaurant and Caribbean grocery store serving Bell and Coryell counties.

It has Fish Fridays.

And according to the staff, the favorites are jerk chicken with rice and peas and plantains, fried chicken and oxtails.
