WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Here is this week’s restaurant report card for Central Texas.

Taqueria El Charro Tapatio #7 at 1615 West Waco Drive in Waco failed a routine inspection with a score of 68. It received 32 demerits and was penalized.

According to the food safety worker, some diced tomatoes, Pico de Gallo, guacamole, mozzarella cheese, barbacoa, pastor, sausage, and uncooked corn and beans were thrown out. They were not kept at the right temperature.

There was no certified food manager on duty, and grease accumulation underneath the vent hood, among numerous other violations.

Sergio’s Mexican Seafood Restaurant at 608 Austin Avenue in Waco failed an inspection with a score of 79 and received 21 demerits.

Its food truck received a 94, but still failed the inspection due to six demerits.

According to the food safety worker, some repackaged foods did not have labels on them.

Some ribeye roasts in salt coating had the date of November 8th, 2024, that were stored inside the Dasani water cooler.

They had to be thrown out.

It is a violation to age meat on the property.

It must be bought “aged” from an approved supplier, unless the business has a special permit.

There was also spoilage, dust, dirt, and debris buildup on the floor, among other issues.

Sonic Drive-In at 801 South 6th Street in Waco failed a routine inspection with a score of 78. It received 22 demerits.

According to the food safety worker, the strawberries in syrup and cherries were thrown out because they were not kept at the right temperature along with cookie dough and brownie bites.

Some were old.

The sanitizer solution measured at zero.

There was an unknown black substance in the grooves of the refrigerator and on the walk-in cooler.
