WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Two standout students from La Vega High School are making headlines. Valedictorian Valeria Martinez Gumesindo is heading to Sam Houston State to study Criminal Justice, while salutatorian Mayra Ibarra plans to major in Nursing at UT Austin.
Both graduated with Associate’s Degrees and leave behind impressive academic and service legacies.
Eighth graders at Temple ISD’s Travis Science Academy stepped up to spotlight global and local issues at the school’s annual community service showcase.
From mental health to ocean pollution, 55 students shared research and solutions, showing how young minds are already thinking big to make a difference.
Congratulations to Stoney Brook of Copperas Cove’s longtime employee, Jamaica Jackson. She received the Texas Assisted Living Association’s Hero Award.
It recognizes individuals for their commitment and service to older adults and families. Jackson is well known for her kindness, work ethic, and warm, welcoming personality.
Congratulations to Temple High School senior Jamarri Thrasher! He has been selected for the prestigious Harvard undergraduate Ventures Tech Summer Program.
This summer, he will join a select group of students nationwide to tackle real-world challenges by building a product from scratch. He is already an entrepreneur with his own clothing line, and honored for this incredible opportunity.
Troy High School’s class of 2025 is celebrating more than graduation. Seniors were awarded over 5$8,000 in local scholarships, thanks to support from businesses, churches, and community groups.
Many also received major academic and athletic awards from colleges, helping ease the cost of higher education and setting them up for success.
Congratulations to the Temple ISD bilingual E-S-L Department for receiving several honors during Region 12′s Bilingual and English as Second Language Awards Celebration.
The awards included Erika Rains, the Coordinator of Bilingual E-S-L for Temple ISD. She was named Region 12 District Leader of the Year.
