Good News Friday: August 22, 2025
WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Its a day of celebration at Temple ISD as 41 exceptional teachers were surprised with checks totaling over $500,000 through the state’s teacher incentive allotment.
These awards recognize educators who have achieved designations ranging from “recognized” to “master,” highlighting their dedication and their students’ academic success.
It’s a great way to kick off the new school year.
Connally High School won this week’s $5,000 prize from the T-Mobile Friday Night 5G Lights competition, funds they plan to use to improve their football field.
Now, they’re in the top 25 schools competing for a grand prize of $25,000.

Today we would like to say happy birthday to Edward Lee Newman, he’s celebrating a 100th birthday.
He served as a navy baker on the USS Steamer Bay from 1943 to 1946, then traded the battleship for a family bakery in Chicago and owned a gas and tire stations in Waco.
Happy birthday to Edward.
