Yellow semi on top of Waco billboard comes down after nearly 30 years
WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A staple that has been seen from I-35 for nearly 30 years has been taken down.
The famous yellow semi that has sat a top Truck Alignment Framing all these years is getting a new home.
Since 1997, the truck has proudly brought attention to a local business in Elm Mott. And while Central Texas Frame and Alignment has since rebranded, what attracted people to the business hasn’t.
“He said he wanted to make a statement piece and that’s when he decided to put the truck on top of the billboard,” says Gabrielle Mocuta, the daughter of the proud owner, David Suggs.
Ever since, it has caught the eye of any one passing by. Mocuta says her dad is no longer with us but she says that people thought her dad was crazy at the time. She says he always knew what he was doing.
“Customers talk to us about it all the time. People will just pull off the highway to ask us about it and take pictures,” Mocuta says.
While the truck has come down, it’s not going away forever. It’s just going to catch the eyes of a new community.
“We have two separate locations for Alignment and Framing so we will be merging them and our other location is in Waxahachie,” she explains.
While it is bittersweet, they know that it’s part of their dad’s legacy forever.
“It’s been a bit of a tough day watching it come down. It has definitely been a statement piece and it’s something that’s a part of him to us but we are grateful that we are able to take it with us,” she says.
