Classroom Champions: Bosqueville’s Emma Patterson
BOSQUEVILLE, Texas (KWTX) - Bosqueville senior Emma Patterson will never back down from an opportunity to be great.
“My parents have been supportive of me the whole time,” said Patterson. “Encouraging me to go out and do whatever I want to do because they are pushing me to. If I want to do it, then just go do it, like what’s stopping you?”
Patterson is a clarinet player, first-team All-District volleyball selection, and she’s also played tennis. She even picked up throwing discus when she was in the seventh grade. Patterson has worked her way up to now four regional meet appearances and a pair of state meet appearances.
“My first impressions of her were ‘Wow, this girl’s athletic,’” said Bosqueville track coach Kearstyn Woodard. “I’m also the head volleyball coach here, so I’m blessed to be able to have her play volleyball with me and then come out and throw with me. She works very hard in the offseason and during the winter to make sure that she can come out here and be the best that she can be. When I saw that and got to know her, I just knew that she could go far.”
“It’s like instant gratification,” said Patterson. “Like you knew you threw good and it’s just like ‘Oh my gosh, I just did that.’ I’m pretty competitive and so I want to do better. That’s just kind of how I’ve been progressing over the years.”
Patterson is ranked third in her class. She will attend Texas A&M University next fall and major in forensics.
“Hopefully, I want to be a lab tech,” said Patterson. “I would be both going to the field and collecting evidence and then going back to analyze it, but I like the analysis side of it a little more.”
The future Aggie wants to be remembered for her faith.
“My faith is everything to me,” said Patterson. “I kind of had some identity struggles my freshman and sophomore year. I finally learned how to replace my identity in God and who He says I am and not who the world says I am. He’s given me confidence that I can’t get anywhere else.”
Congratulations to Emma Patterson, you’re a Classroom Champion!
