WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Owen Peters is a busy kid. The Vanguard senior is four sport athlete, but still maintains close to a 4.0 GPA.

“The teachers we have, have really helped me,” said Peters.

“Their understanding, if you need to turn in something late, they’ll help you out. The group we have at vanguard is really supportive.’

Peters is also involved with young men’s service league and is a vanguard ambassador

“Honestly it’s given me a different perspective on things,” said Peters.

“Knowing other people aren’t as lucky as I am. To be in the situation I am. It’s really cool to help other people out.”

Don’t be mistaken, Peters does excel at sports. He’s a first team all-district receiver and defensive back for the football team and played a huge part in leading them to the state championship game appearance this season.

“He’s been a leader,” said Vanguard head coach Brad Shupbach.

“He’s a great guy to have. I wish he could stay around another year or two.”

And if you ask peters where the motivation to succeed at all of these things comes from?

“Honestly, I know the goals I have for my life, and I want to be able to succeed,” said Peters.

Congratulations to Owen Peters.
