CHINA SPRING, Texas (KWTX) - China Spring ISD has hired current athletic director Josh Gregory as their next head football coach.
In a statement released by the district on Thursday, Gregory will continue to serve in his role as athletic director as well as head football coach beginning in 2026.
Gregory has served as the China Spring AD since 2021, where he saw back to back state football championships in 2021 and 2022 as well as a baseball state title in 2023.
Prior to his tenure as athletic director, Gregory served as the offensive coordinator for China Spring from 2013 to 2015 before serving as a tight ends coach and offensive coordinator at Cedar Ridge High School from 2016 to 2020.
China Spring Superintendent Dr. Marc Faulkner said “Coach Gregory’s leadership, experience, and understanding of our community and student-athletes make him the right choice to continue the proud tradition of Cougar football while preparing our athletes for success on and off the field.”
The district will also expand its athletic leadership team with the appointment of Cannon Earp to assistant athletic director.
China Spring will also move up to the 4A Division 1 UIL classification for the 2026-2028 alignment period.
