Significant changes for 2026-2028 UIL Reclassification
WACO, Texas (KWTX) - The 2026 calendar year will also mark another UIL reclassification year.
Earlier this week, the UIL released the enrollment cutoff numbers for each athletic classification for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 school years.
Cutoff numbers per UIL:
6A: 2,215 students and above
5A-I: 1,830-2,214 students
5A-II: 1,305-1,829 students
4A-I: 896-1,304 students
4A-II: 550-895 students
3A-I: 367-549 students
3A-II: 246-366.9 students
2AI: 175.6-245.9 students
2A-II: 105-175.5 students
1A-I: 57.6-104.9 students
1A-II: 57.5 students and below
Killeen ISD will likely see the most significant classification shake up, with three of the five schools seeing class changes:
Harker Heights - remains in 6A (2,259 students)
Chaparral - moves up to 6A (2,234 students)
Shoemaker - moves down to 5A Division I (2,114.5 students)
Killeen - moves down to 5A Division I (1,970.5 students)
Ellison - remains in 5A Division II
Other significant changes in the Central Texas reclassification:
Lake Belton - moves up to 6A (2,253 students)
China Spring - moves up to 4A Division I (931 students)
Lorena - moves down to 3A Division I (539 students)
Teague - moves down to 3A Division II (363 students)
Hamilton - moves up to 3A Division II (248 students)
Crawford - moves down to 2A Division II (172 students)
Oglesby - moves up to 1A Division I (72 students)
The official UIL realignment day will take place on February 3, where the UIL will announce official district alignments for the 2026-2028 cycle.
