College Station, Texas (KBTX) - News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest classroom champion Jack Hanna. The A&M Consolidated High School senior has a 4.18 grade point average and ranks in the top 10 percent of his class.

Jack is a member of the National Honor Society and is involved in the Youth Group at the A&M Church of Christ. He has served as a camp counselor as well as helping out with ‘Sleep in Heavenly Peace’ which builds bunk beds for kids in foster care. He is also involved in several projects through the Young Men Service League. Jack is described as an open thinker which has served him well.

“I think he understands the idea of, like, everybody has a point of view,” said social studies and economics/government teacher Jason Pratt. “Everybody has something interesting that they contribute. So Jack’s one of those guys that can say, oh, I understand this other point of view and here’s why. And I will have something that I’m consistent with, not just following the crowd.”

Athletically Jack was a 3 year letter winner on the Tiger Golf team that finished 2nd in district this year and 4th in the regional tournament. He’s the kind of athlete that is always working on getting better.

“He has been an integral part of our team,” said head golf coach Justin McKown “Phenomenal student, works hard on his game not just during the school year but also during the summertime. Plays tournaments outside of what we do for high school.”

Jack recently found out he will graduate Summa Cum Laude and is proud that his hard work in the classroom paid off by being accepted to the Mays Business School at Texas A&M.

‘I think for me was, the top 10% acceptance to A&M,” said classroom champion Jack Hanna. “I think that was just that’s what I worked for my whole high school career, was to be able to have a for sure, a guaranteed acceptance. And so that meant a lot to me. I want to I always want to respect my parents and be the best for them because of what they did for me. And so there’s that. And then also my relationship with God. It teaches me that I got to do the best at all times. So be the best that you can be. And so that starts with waking up. In the morning.’

Congratulations to Jack Hanna of A&M Consolidated High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion.
