ABBOTT, Texas (KWTX) - If you’ve ever been to Abbott, you’ve probably run into the Pustejovsky family. If so, you’ve definitely heard the name Paxton Pustejovsky.

From a family full of high-achieving student athletes, Paxton, an all-state kicker and standout receiver, has helped lead a senior class to a perfect regular season record.

“Everyone does their thing a little differently, I like to work-life balance perfectly I think,” said Pustejovsky. “You got to try your best at everything you do, and put yourself in the best situation to do your best.”

“Paxton is himself, that’s probably what I love the most about him,” said head coach Kyle Crawford. “He knows exactly who he is. He’s mature beyond his years, an all around great kid that’s got a lot of things figured out already at a young age.”

Pustejovsky is the student council president, he’s heavily involved in his church, and he’s a part of many extracurriculars, including one act play.

This past year, he helped create a documentary honoring Abbott’s late director who tragically passed away after battling pancreatic cancer.

“Paxton and a couple of his classmates really stepped up in a time of need and helped direct that in a lot of ways,” said Crawford. For a 16, 17-year-old kid to put that kind of weight on his shoulders in the midst of a tragedy with everything else he’s got going on in life, I think that says everything you need to know about Paxton.”

Paxton is on track to graduate as class salutatorian. He plans on attending Texas A&M University next fall.

“I want to leave a legacy behind of wanting to make the world a better place and just striving to do the best they can in everything that they do,” said Pustejovsky.

Congratulations to Paxton Pustejovsky, you’re a Classroom Champion!
