Houston man robbed, beaten after meeting suspect on dating app
HOUSTON (KWTX) — Houston police are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect who robbed and assaulted a man after they met through a dating app.
The incident happened Monday, Nov. 24, around 6 p.m., according to the Houston Police Department’s Robbery Division.
According to police, the victim told officers he met an unknown man on a dating app and agreed to pick him up in the 6400 block of Foxhunter. The victim said the man then went with him to his home, where they stayed briefly.
The victim later drove the man to a convenience store in the 6200 block of South Lake Houston Parkway. When they arrived in the parking lot, the man refused to get out of the vehicle, police said.
The victim told police the man became aggressive, so he went into the store to get help. The suspect followed him inside and demanded his car keys.
When the victim refused to hand over the keys, the suspect punched him in the face multiple times, took his cell phone and fled on foot, according to police.
Police describe the suspect as a Black man, 22 to 28 years old, about 6 feet tall. He was wearing a gray Nike jogging suit, black shirt and black shoes.
