5-year-old dies after being hit by car in front yard on New Year’s Eve, coroner says
AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/Gray News) - A family in South Carolina is grieving the loss of a child who was hit and killed by a car on New Year’s Eve.
According to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office, a 5-year-old child was killed after being struck by a car on Wednesday evening.
The Aiken County coroner said the girl was in the front yard of a home on Raborn Road when she was hit by a vehicle that was entering the property.
The 5-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
An autopsy has been scheduled for next week in Newberry.
The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division are investigating. The agencies did not immediately say if anyone is facing any charges related to the child’s death.
