This 85-year-old North Carolina seamstress doesn’t let age affect her wage
Alice Taylor is not afraid of hard work.
She says her father worked on the railroad and instilled in her the importance of hard work at an early age. She is currently a seamstress for Dillard’s.
She handles stitching, hemming, zippers, and steaming, you name it. She is responsible for alterations for the three Dillard’s stores in Charlotte: SouthPark Mall, Northlake Mall, and Carolina Place Mall.
“You’re supposed to work in order to get what you need,” Taylor said. “You have to work for it. Work is out there. You just have to go out there and get it.”
Taylor is 85 years old. She works five days a week, eight hours a day.
She has been working at Dillard’s for the past 10 years. After working several jobs, she opened a shop that focused on tailoring.
