Rain possible for St. Patrick’s Day
Scattered showers and thunderstorms rolled through Central Texas Saturday afternoon and evening. Thankfully no severe weather was reported outside of beneficial rainfall. We have one more day with rain chances in the forecast, which does happen to fall on St. Patrick’s Day. We’re expecting the best coverage of rain to fall throughout the morning hours - That’s also when we’re expecting the heaviest rain to fall in Central Texas as well. After that main wave of rain for the morning, coverage of rain becomes more hit and miss as we head into the afternoon. The severe weather threat will still be low with our last round of storms, but some gusty winds and small hail could be possible in any stronger storms. We will have to watch out for some minor street flooding, especially in those areas that saw some decent rainfall over the past few days. Outside of rain chances, we can’t rule out some fog, but everyone can expect to keep the steady cloud cover around. The clouds and breezy northeast winds will also help keep temperatures cool for this time of the year. We’ll start out in the upper 50s and only warm into the mid 60s for the afternoon.
We finally begin to quiet down and dry out heading into the new work week. Another push of cooler and drier air will be arriving by Monday. That is what will be kicking out the rain, but also bringing another slight drop to our temperatures. We’ll be down into the upper 40s Monday morning with highs in the low to mid 60s Monday afternoon. Tuesday morning will be the coldest morning of the week, with lows down around 40°. Tuesday is the official start to Spring - With Spring officially starting at 10:06 p.m.! We’re expecting the spring-like warmth to make a comeback for the second half of the week - So get ready for the warming trend to kick off by the middle of the week thanks to south winds making a comeback. Temperatures will be in the upper 60s Wednesday and into the mid 70s Thursday. There are signs of another shot of rain and storms Wednesday into Thursday ahead of another storm system. We’ll keep you updated on the severe weather potential with that round of activity. Drier conditions look to return Friday into Saturday with the spring-like warmth hanging around as well. We could see additional rain move back in early in the following week thanks to another cold front. More to come on that over the next few days. As a reminder - We’re in our severe weather season, so it’s important to remain updated on the weather forecast!
